Natalie is a barrister specialising in general commercial litigation, intellectual property and defamation. She has more than 20 years of experience in litigation. In her ‘previous life’, Natalie was a litigation partner of an international law firm.
As you will see from this blog, Natalie is also a sports fan. She is a passionate supporter of the Australian Football League Club, Collingwood. Whilst she would love to refer to past Olympic feats, her highest sporting honour was to win the Women’s Slalom and Giant Slalom race at the Falls Creek Corporate Ski Cup (circa 1998) when the leading contestants fell over.
Natalie has represented clients in a range of sporting legal contexts, whether this means looking after the legal needs of the individual athlete, professional sports team or corporate sponsor.
She is serving as a Commission Counsel assisting the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct Commission for the 2016/2017 cricket season.
In May 2016, Natalie became a Board Member of the Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners’ Association Inc. (TROA).
Natalie has dealt with the consequences of client faux pas on social media, the actions of employees who have used social media inappropriately, litigated to track down employees behind a ‘hate site’ targeting their employer, and advised Boards and companies on their social media obligations.
Natalie holds a Masters degree in media and telecommunications law from the University of Melbourne. She is a frequent speaker and presenter.
Natalie is a recommended Intellectual Property Counsel in Doyles Guide 2016 and, previously, has appeared in Best Lawyers Australia 2010-2013, Chambers Asia-Pacific 2012 – 2014, and The World Trademark Review 1000, 2013 – 2014.
